Customs

Customs is on the south end of the island right by the anchorage. Their is a "clearing in/out" mooring ball for convienance, but if you see a free one grab it ASAP. Their arn't many on the south side which is the only means of getting on the island to explore.

Anchorages

Their is one anchorage on the south side of the island. I suggest you only use it if absolutly nessesary; as it is deep water and if you drag you could snag their communications cable.

Their are a bunch of mooring balls on the west side of the island that provide the best protection from the prevailing winds, but getting ashore from their is a long dinghy ride. Don't try and come ashore on that side. I was informed at the marine park that people have died trying. Head the warning.

Best Beaches

Saba is the only Caribbean Island without a natural beach. One was man made on the northwest side with sand bardged in from St. Marteen.

Saba

Saba Hotels-Saba Resorts- Saba Beaches- Saba Vacations

Where Is Saba

Location-Saba is part of the Lesser Antilles. It lies 1050 nautical miles east south east of Miami Florida and is the furthest east cruisers generally go before they head down the southern part of the Caribbean Island chain.

Activities

Hiking- you're going to do a lot of that here and no lie everything is a 45 degree angle but the hike to the top of Mount Scenery is worth it. The views are amazing

Diving and Snorkeling- Saba has some of the best diving on the planet. Just don’t do it without a company from the islands as it is illegal to go without one.

Saba National Marine Park- Pay for your mooring here, its VERY cheep

Ladder Bay- this is where locals brought things in before their were roads. Check it out you will not believe that a piano was carried up this.

Dutch Museum- get some culture

and of course boat tours, boat rentals, snorkeling, diving, tanning and boat charters.

Beaches

Saba is actually the only Caribbean Island WITHOUT a beach; unbelievable I know. Their is a man made beach however on the north side. The locals actually bardged in the sand from St. Marteen.

What Saba lacks in beaches it more then makes up for its mountainous terain and rainforest.
