This section is going to be massively expanded over the coming months. After the last 3 years totaling 15 months of cruising time I have been up and down the entire Caribbean Island chain twice(no further the St. Lucia.)

During that time I have placed over 1200 way point all of which I have personal experience at or going through.

Anchorages with good holding and close to services are of the utmost importance to any cruiser and I take these recommendations seriously.

I dive my anchor each time it hits the ground (as you should to) so I will be able to give you holding details.

Don't fear next season I am headed further south to Grenada to fill in any gaps.

Their 100's of anchorages that I've spent the night.

Bahamas- The Abacos and Exumas are unreal.

Beware of the North side of long island (east) its crappy holding and spotty reefs that aren’t marked on charts. I went into a “recommended anchorage) and if I had 5 more ft of chain out I would have hit a patch reef in what was apparently 15 ft of water.

Turks and Caicos-Beware of the north east i.e. Middle caicos its all reef and most of the north is a marine park and anchoring zones exits. Their are mooring set up for day use and dive boats always have priority but no one should hassle you.

Dominican Republic- Remember you need permission from the Dominican Armada to anchor anywhere. This is kind of funny since they have no boats to go out and enforce this.

A buddy of mine told me a story that a guy was anchored out and dinghies in to go through customs. (Bring extra cash for tips) They Dominican Navy, Customs & Immigration, Drug enforcement and Produce Inspector (yes the inspect your produce and it will cost you a twenty spot. All got in the guys dinghy to go out and inspect the boat.

Please leave your reviews about any part of your travels to any location.
We would love to hear about any marinas or anchorages so fellow boaters and travelers have safe places to go.
