Deep Bay

Just south of the entrance to St. Johns, Deep Bay is a sweet horseshoe shaped anchorage. Be careful when entering as their is a mast smack in the middle of the entrance.

Once inside you can nestle up pretty close to the amazing white sand beach. The Royal Antigua Hotel is right their and doesn't give you a hard time about using the beach. It's also nice to be able to hop on the dinghy and have a nice dinner on land.

Nonsuch Bay

Nonsuch Bay is a beautiful Anchorage on the east side of the island. Due to the prevailing wind and swells it can be tough getting their. It can be even more difficult navigating the narrow passes and reefs to get in. Once you do make it their it's one of the most picutresque spots around.

Consisting of a white sand beach and emerald water that is crystal clear you will be glad you went. It also has a major party each year during sailing week.

Picarts Bay

Located on the south east side of Antigua; Picarts Bay is simply beautiful. Their is a hotel some places to eat and a couple bars so dinghy on in to the white sand beach for lunch or a sundowner

Holding their is great. My anchor usually burries instantly. Given the prevailing easterly offshore winds with the island protection you it should always be a plesant stay.

Our top 5 Antigua Anchorages are:

Falmouth Harbour

Falmouth Harbour is a great spot. Piegon beach is right their and their are numerous sand holes right off the beach. Closer to the entrance the water is much deeper. I saw the Maltese Falcon anchored their last season.

The water their is crystal clear and turquoise and their is a great reef to dive at the entrance to the harbour. Clear in at Nelsons Dockyard a short walk away.

Jolly Harbour

Anchoring is not allowed inside Jolly Harbour proper. Their are a bunch of mooring balls in their if the weather gets to nasty. Holding outside the harbour is generally quite good; although their is a bed of seagrass.

There are also a few great beaches just a short dinghy ride away. The beach at "the cove" is one of my favorites. Nothing but white sand and emerald water here.

Antigua Anchorages

Anchorages here are generally sandy with good holding. Only go to the east side if their are calm winds.
