Barbados

Their are a few great anchorages in Barbados. Many are just off the beach. It gets deep quick so dive your anchor.

St. Vincent

Always a great protected spot to drop anchor in the Grenadines.

Turks and Caicos

All the achorages are on the north east side of the island. Their is good holding and good protection. Behind West Caicos is a good spot to.

Anguilla

Anchorages here are sandy, but a little exposed due to the islands east west configuration. A cruising permit is a must.

St. Thomas

Great list of Anchorages. I have been to them all and overall holding is good.

Puerto Rico

The west end is a great place to anchor and is very protected from the prevailing east wind. Boqueron has great holding.

Bahamas

Their is generally great holding in the bahamas. The exumas can have scoured bottom and lots of surge.

Guadaloupe

Anchoring here is generally decient. Like most other southern islands their can be big grass beds. Gring a weed anchor.

Saba

The only place anchoring is allowed is on the south side. It is quite deep here and their is an underground cable.

Grenada

Best anchoring is in the bays in the south. Be careful not to anchor in the Grande Anse exclusion zone!

St. Marteen

Generally great anchorages with great holding. The french side has the most protected anchorages on the island.

St. Croix

The West End has the biggest and best protected anchorage in the Caribbean. Holding is generally very good.

St. Lucia

Just like Dominica their are narrown shelves with big drop offs right behind them. Be careful and get permission from customs.

St. Barths

Holding is good in all locations. The water is deep though, over 30 ft and most are prone to swell.

St. John

Anchoring isn't permitted unless over 60ft so their are mooring balls in these locations.

BVI'S

Their only a couple places to anchor. Almost every bay has mooring balls. Very cruiser friendly

Barbuda

Holding here is increadible. Especially on 17 mile beach. You will find your anchor burried in pink sand.

Antigua

Anchorages here are generally sandy with good holding. Only go to the west side if their are calm winds.

Anchorages with good holding and close to services are of the utmost importance to any cruiser and I take these recommendations seriously.

I dive my hook each time it hits the ground (as you should to) so I will be able to give you holding details.

Don't fear next season I am headed further south to Grenada to fill in any gaps. Their 100's of anchorages that I've spent the night at.

I hope you enjoy my site and your trip, Tight Lines! Justin

St. Kitts and Nevis

The holding on St. Kitts is real good, but some spots are weedy. Anchoring in Nevis is frowned upon.

Dominica

Anchoring anywhere in Dominica is sketchy. Their are only narrow shelfs near shore to anchor on and extreme drop-offs.

Dominican Republic

Remember you are only allowed to anchor with the permission of the Dominican Navy.

Martinique

You really need to bring a weed anchor if you go here just to make sure you will hold. Most anchorages are grassy.
